The ‘Rose’ Returns; Hotel Hosts Dinner

Highlights of the 2016 parade events will include the return of the Rose of Tralee and a pre-parade dinner at the refurbished Marriott Downtown Syracuse, formerly the Hotel Syracuse.

The Rose of Tralee program was part of the parade’s early years and returns in 2016 to honor a young woman who volunteers her time in service to the community. The parade committee invites women of Irish heritage between the ages of 18 and 23 to apply for the honor; one will be chosen to participate in parade events as the Rose of Tralee. The Syracuse “Rose” program is fashioned after the internationally known program of the same name. Anyone who would like to nominate someone for the honor should send an email to roseoftralee@syracusestpatricksparade.org. Applications must be returned to the same email address by Feb. 1.

The parade returns to its roots with the location for the Grand Marshal’s dinner Friday, March 11 — the newly renovated Marriott Syracuse Downtown, formerly the Hotel Syracuse. The hotel was a major part of the parade’s early years and we are thrilled to return there to honor our grand marshal. The dinner will be the first event in the hotel after a major renovation. Anyone wishing to attend should watch the parade website for information.
